Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells Beekeepers Association currently has just over 150 members in the local area. We are affiliated to Kent Beekeepers Association and the British Beekeepers Association.
Membership of the branch provides many practical benefits. Not only do you get insurance and information though the county and national organisations, you get practical advice, support and training from friendly local beekeepers.
Your safety at our apiaries is very important. All new members will be sent an information sheet with health and safety advice. While attending apiary events, please follow the guidance of the work party leader at all times.
There are two grades of membership:-
Registered membership is aimed at active beekeepers. Your subscription includes personal insurance, disease insurance for up to three hives (with a small additional premium for larger apiaries), regular publications – BBKA News and Beecraft magazines, plus access to all local branch facilities. There is a reduced subscription fee for junior registered members (under 18). Young people undertaking activities such as Duke of Edinburgh awards are welcome to join the branch. All junior members must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while attending branch activities.
Friends membership is aimed at those without bees who want to support the branch. This includes family members of anyone who is a registered member, or beekeepers who happen to be registered members in another area. Friends are welcome to take part in all branch activities, and may subscribe to publications as an option.
The branch does keep a record of your personal contact details for administrative purposes. This information is shared with KBKA and BBKA for membership and insurance purposes, and with Beecraft to facilitate distribution of their publications. For information on how we manage your personal data, please refer to www.kbka.org.uk/privacy-policy.
