Membership

Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells Beekeepers Association currently has about 150 members. We are affiliated to Kent Beekeepers Association (KBKA) and the British Beekeepers Association (BBKA).

Membership of the branch is open to all and provides many practical benefits:-

  • Third party insurance cover for beekeeping activities
  • Bee disease insurance (for EFB & AFB)
  • Monthly magazines (Bee Craft & BBKA News)
  • Regular Branch Newsletters
  • Access to information, practical advice and training through Branch, county and national organisations
  • Affliation to British Beekeepers Association (BBKA)
  • Membership to Kent Beekeepers Association (KBKA)

Membership Categories

Registered membership is aimed at active beekeepers. Your subscription includes personal insurance, disease insurance for up to three hives (with a small additional premium for larger apiaries), regular publications – BBKA News and Beecraft magazines, plus access to all local branch facilities.

Junior membership which is free for those under 18. Designed for young people undertaking activities such as Duke of Edinburgh awards are welcome to join the branch. All junior members must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while attending branch activities.

Partner membership is for those with an interest in beekeeping who live at the same address as a Registered member.

Friends membership is aimed at those without bees who want to support the branch. This includes family members of anyone who is a registered member, or beekeepers who happen to be registered members in another area. Friends are welcome to take part in all branch activities, and may subscribe to publications as an option.

Safety

Your safety at our apiaries is very important. All new members will be sent an information sheet with health and safety advice. While attending apiary events, please follow the guidance of the work party leader at all times.

Privacy

The branch does keep a record of your personal contact details for administrative purposes. This information is shared with KBKA and BBKA for membership and insurance purposes, and with Beecraft to facilitate distribution of their publications. The membership year runs from 1st October.
